Painting Enquiry

Hope Reis always wanted to be an artist but originally received a degree in Interior Design and it wasn’t until years later she was able to paint full time.

Hope says, “I seek to combine realism and impressionism in my paintings. Painting and drawing from life is what really excite me. Whether arranging a living set up in my studio, painting outsi-de, or in a beautiful interior, my desire is to capture the effect of the feeling and light.”

Hope works mostly in oils, although she takes watercolors sometimes when travelling abroad. Her love is European Interiors, and she tries to get abroad regularly to paint. She has family in London and Stockbridge and feels right at home in what she calls, ‘timeless & historic’ settings. Hope is continually inspired by the richness of the work of the Old Masters such as Sargent, Sorolla & Anders Zorn, and hopes her paintings have a timeless quality to them.

Hope says, “I resonate strongly with Eric Liddell’s Statement from the movie, Chariots of Fire, ‘when I paint I feel God’s pleasure!’ I know I’m doing what I’m supposed to – and there’s no substitute for that! I hope the viewer can sense and share in that joy! For me, to see and express beauty is my job – and what a fabulous way to honor my Creator. Truly, I want my work to reflect the appreciation I feel for the glorious beauty God has given us all to enjoy.”

She is a member of the Salmagundi Club in NYC, a Signature member of the American Women Artists, Associate member Oil Painters of America, American Impressionist Society, and NOAPS. Her work is represented by Thompsons Fine Art Gallery & Sarah Samuels Fine Art in England, Sheldon Fine Arts in Florida, Edward Montgomery Gallery in Carmel, CA.

What Collectors are saying:

“The painting is stunning! I absolutely love it. I will definitely hang it in the dining room with the other dining room interior. It is such a beautiful painting and a beautiful dining room! You are an amazing artist. I’m thrilled! thank you so much!” Love, Richard

“Two Sisters – When we saw the painting of the portrait of our girls we were both overwhelmed with emotion. From the looks on their faces to big sister watching over little sister, the painting absolutely captures the mood and personalities of our girls, both today and 25 years ago. We find ourselves just staring at the painting and remembering the joy these two young ladies have brought us for 29 years.” Kelly and Brian Stromen

“Rory – The painting is so beautiful, I can’t stop looking at it ❤️” Laura St. Pierre
