Painting Enquiry

Michelle Bennett Oates was born in London, and when she was 18 moved to Norfolk where she was trained by her father Bennett Oates who was an internationally renowned flower painter. In the first few years of her career she painted wildlife, and exhibited regularly with the Tryon and Moorland Gallery in Cork Street, London. In 1983 Michelle was elected to the Society of Wildlife Artists, and exhibited yearly at the Mall Galleries.

Some years ago she decided to concentrate on still life, and flower painting. Michelle’s medium is oil on board, which was traditional with the Dutch School of flower painters. Michelle’s work hangs in collections in the USA, Russia, Hong Kong, and Singapore.

She has exhibited her flower paintings at the Fell Gallery in Singapore, the Eaton Gallery, and the Oakham galleries in London, Stacy Marks gallery Eastbourne, Mandells Gallery Norwich, Westcliff Gallery Norfolk, Elford Fine Art, Tavistock.

Michelle moved to Galloway in 2010, but still regularly exhibits in Tavistock, in Devon. She has now started to paint the Scottish landscape.
